Adaptive knowledge-based seismic risk assessment of existing reinforced concrete buildings using the SLaMA method

This paper presents and discusses the ongoing developments towards definition of a multi-knowledge level seismic assessment procedure for large-scale risk applications. The involves analytical-mechanical SLaMA (Simple Lateral Mechanism Analysis) method allows an adaptive updatable performance buildings accounting different data acquisition (knowledge) levels. By coupling this approach with vulnerability survey forms, range/domain expected capacity curves structure can be obtained used to evaluate safety economic losses according state-of-the-art procedures in literature. Moreover, results analytical develop fragility through simplified spectrum-based procedures. Combining analysis hazard analysis, assessed terms Mean Annual Frequency (MAF) collapse, as well Expected Losses (EAL). proposed SLaMA-based is illustrated existing reinforced concrete building. Results confirm effectiveness methodology seismic-risk studies at large scale, thus overcoming issue related limited building information, yet allowing continuous update “digital twin” model further data/information becomes available.
